THIS WEEK AT WOODS ACRES

This week at market we will have trunk squash (loads of it!), filet beans, a small amount of okra and Sun Gold tomatoes, and...

WE WILL ROAST OUR FIRST BATCH OF NEW MEXICO CHILE ON THE SPOT AT WACO DOWNTOWN FARMERS MARKET!

FLOWERS & VEGETABLES

Today, May 25, 2016 we set an all time one-day record weight of trunk squash harvested, with 18.9 pounds!

That's entirely appropriate, as trunk squash is Argentina's only summer squash and today, veinticinco de mayo, is one of Argentina's two major patriotic holidays!

We should have over 30 pounds of trunk squash at market this Saturday. It's the best summer squash we've ever eaten, which is strange because it isn't even a summer squash!

We grow everything from non-GMO seed. We use soil blocks when sowing because that way plants don't undergo shock when transplanted. We even sow corn in blocks for transplanting. We graft tomatoes for greater disease resistance and yield over a longer season. We grow varieties of vegetables that others do not. We experiment with Native American growing techniques.

WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT US

STARTER VEGGIES (AND FLOWERS)

Did you know corn can be sown indoors under lights and then transplanted out? That's what we do at Woods Acres. 4 seeds per 2" soil block, and away we go!

4 trays of jalapeño peppers are under lights now as we prepare to supply food vendors at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market this fall.
